Friends of Ibba Girls' School exists to support the development of a community residential school for girls in South Sudan – Ibba Girls’ Boarding School. Over the decade since the charity's founding, we have been privileged to see the construction and growth of the school, fundraising and providing technical expertise to support its development. Now there is an exciting opportunity for three new volunteers to join the Board of FIGS Trustees, sharing their skills and experience to bolster FIGS and IGBS in the next season.
We are looking for three new trustees who have strong interpersonal and networking skills and sound judgement to join our team. We particularly require a Treasurer to oversee our finances, a Fundraising Trustee to lead our income generation (assisted by contracted fundraising support), and a further trustee whose skills and experience will contribute to the effective running of the charity. We are keen to recruit trustees from diverse backgrounds, including from the South Sudanese diaspora or with a South Sudanese heritage. We also ask that candidates demonstrate an understanding and alignment to the values and charitable objectives of FIGS and can work effectively as part of a wider team, which includes a diverse range of stakeholders.
FIGS Trustees meet online and sometimes face-to-face (often in London) between 4 and 6 times a year to assess fundraising, progress at the school and to monitor the strategic plan. FIGS is small in terms of its organisational capacity but has significant impact through raising income and influencing policy, and trustees have the opportunity to play leading roles in fundraising, communications and professional support to IGBS.
